Sultepec is a municipality in the Mexican state of México . The municipality has an area of 565.9 km² and according to the 2010 census a population of 25,809. The administrative seat and largest town of the municipality is Sultepec de Pedro Ascencio de Alquisiras (3,595 inhabitants). Other places with more than a thousand inhabitants are Santa Cruz , Sultepequito and Capula .
geography
Sultepec is located in the southwest of the state of México, about 75 km southwest of Toluca de Lerdo . The municipality - located in the Depresión del Balsas - comprises 80 villages and mountains with heights of up to 2430 m . More than half of the municipality is covered by different types of forest.
The municipality of Sultepec borders the municipalities Almoloya de Alquisiras , Tejupilco , Texcaltitlán , and Amatepec , as well as the municipalities Teloloapan and Pedro Ascencio Alquisiras in the state of Guerrero .
