Marco Morgenstern (born August 6, 1972 in Dohna ) is a former German biathlete .

Marco Morgenstern started biathlon in 1982 . He made his debut in the Biathlon World Cup in Bad Gastein in 1993 . In his third World Cup race, an individual in Pokljuka , he finished eighth in the top 10. In the 1999/2000 and 2001/02 seasons he achieved his best individual results in the World Cup with fourth places in the individual race in Lahti and the sprint in Hochfilzen . With the relay he was able to achieve two victories and two second places in world cup races.

In 2003 Marco Morgenstern and the men's relay teamed up with Daniel Graf , Carsten Pump and Jörn Wollschläger became European champion in Forni Avoltri and third in the individual. A third place with the team in 1994 was his best placement at a world championship. As a single starter, Morgenstern took part in the Holmenkollen in 2000 and in the World Championships in 2001 in Pokljuka and achieved good placings in 2000 with two 15th places in the pursuit and in the mass start. In 2001 he took part in the relay race, in which the German team achieved one of the worst results in German biathlon history as twelfth. Morgenstern suffered a circulatory breakdown in the race as a starting runner and was no longer able to build on his previous performance. A year later, he appeared again in the 2002 Pokljuka season and suffered another breakdown. The German team gave up immediately and Morgenstern was taken out of the race.
