Jon Åge Tyldum

Jon Åge Tyldum (born October 26, 1968 in Snåsa ) is a former Norwegian biathlete .

Tyldum was after Eirik Kvalfoss in the 1988/89 season the second Norwegian to win the overall world cup in biathlon . In the 1991/92 season Tyldum was the first overall winner. After German athletes had dominated the World Cup for a long time, the first three places in the overall standings all went to Scandinavians this season. For the second time, Tyldum won the overall World Cup in the 1994/95 season, he was the first Norwegian to succeed.

At the 1991 World Championships , Tyldum won the silver medal with the Norwegian team, which was the first medal in his career. Further medals followed every two years. In 1993 Tyldum won his first individual medal with the silver medal in the sprint, in 1995 he achieved a silver medal in the individual. Tyldum won his last medal in 1997 with the silver medal in the relay race. The Norwegian achieved a total of four medals, two in individual races and two with the Norwegian relay or team.

Tyldum retired from active sports in 1998.
