Eirik Kvalfoss (born December 25, 1959 in Voss ) is a former Norwegian biathlete . He was considered the best Norwegian biathlete until the 1990s and was one of the most successful athletes of his time.

Career

In 1984 he won three medals in three competitions at the Olympic Games in Sarajevo , including the gold medal in the sprint. Between 1982 and 1991 he was world champion three times , primarily in his special race, the sprint . He was able to win a total of nine individual medals and four relay medals . In 1989 Kvalfoss was also the first non-German to win the overall biathlon world cup. Eirik Kvalfoss won 12 individual races between 1981 and 1991, including 9 sprint races. Together with Gisle Fenne , Geir Einag and Frode Løberg , he won at least two team races for Norway. Kvalfoss is nine-time Norwegian champion in individual races and has won eight times with the relay and once with the team for the Hordaland region .

In 1983 he won the Morgenbladet gold medal , in 1984 he was voted Norway's Sportsman of the Year and the Fearnleys olympiske ærespris .

Today Kvalfoss promotes the national offspring.
