Odd Lirhus (born September 18, 1956 in Voss ) is a former Norwegian biathlete and today's biathlon trainer.

Like his teammate Eirik Kvalfoss, Odd Lirhus comes from the western Norwegian town of Voss and started for the Voss Skiskytterlag (Voss biathlon club). At the biathlon world championships in Hochfilzen in 1978 , he won over 20 kilometers. It was the first world championship in which small bore rifles were used. In the season he won silver in the cast Sigleif Johansen , Roar Nilsen , Lirhus and Tor Svendsberget behind the GDR with Manfred Beer , Frank Ullrich , Klaus Siebert and Eberhard Rösch . He won another individual medal the following year in Ruhpolding on the 10 km route. He was able to repeat the silver place with the relay in 1982 and in 1983 he won his last world championship medal with the bronze relay . Lirhus took part in the 1980 and 1984 Winter Olympics. In Lake Placid he started in sprints, singles and relays. Over 10 kilometers, Frank Ullrich achieved his best individual result with seventh place in the Olympic victory of Frank Ullrich, over 20 kilometers he was 23rd and together with Svein Engen , Kjell Søbak and Sigleif Johansen in fourth just barely missed the bronze medal in the relay. Four years later in Sarajevo , the relay team with Lirhus, Kvalfoss, Rolf Storsveen and Søbak came second on the podium. In the individual, he did not get past 24th place.

After his active career, Lirhus passed on his experience as a coach. From 2002 to 2006 he was responsible for the Norwegian national women's team. According to Liv Grete Poirée , he played a key role in their success. Lirhus was primarily responsible for Poirée and Gunn Margit Andreassen and was supposed to bring the youngsters up to speed, but resigned three months before the 2006 Winter Olympics and handed over to his successor Kjetil Sæter . From the 2008/2009 season he was running Kati Wilhelm . His changes to her cross-country skiing technique made her partly responsible for her success in Pyeongchang .

Lirhus has a partner from Germany and lives in Åsgårdstrand .
