Svein Engen (born March 27, 1953 in Hønefoss ) is a former Norwegian biathlete .

Svein Engen started as an active player for Ringerike . He contested his first international championship at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck , where he was 20th in the individual and fifth in the relay race with Kjell Hovda , Terje Hanssen and Tor Svendsberget . The following year, Engen took part in the World Championships in Vingrom and was ninth in the individual and 19th in the sprint. In the relay race he just missed a medal with Tor Svendsberget, Roar Nilsen and Sigleif Johansen in fourth place. In 1978 he was in Hochfilzen26th of the individual, tenth of the sprint in Ruhpolding in 1979 . 1980 Engen started in Lake Placid for the second time at the Olympic Winter Games . In the sprint he just missed the medal ranks as fourth place against Eberhard Rösch as well as with Kjell Søbak , Odd Lirhus and Sigleif Johansen as the starting runner of the relay against the German selection. In 1981 he took part in the world championships again in Lahti and finished 24th in the sprint.

Nationally, Engen won the individual titles in 1977, 1978 and 1983, and in 1977 also in the sprint and the relay. Another three times he was runner-up and five times he was able to win bronze medals.
