Mavlet batirov ( Russian Мавлет Алавдинович Батиров , Avar Мавлет ГІалаудинил Батиров * 12. December 1983 in Khasavyurt , Dagestan ASSR ) is a Russian wrestler Avar nationality. He was Olympic champion in 2004 free style bantamweight and 2008 featherweight.
Career
Mawlet Batirow came to wrestling with two brothers as a teenager in 1998 in Khasavyurt . He is a member of the Shamil Umakhanov Khassavyurt sports club . Under the coach Saidpasche Umachanow and Dschambulat Tedejew , the Russian national coach of freestyle wrestlers, he developed from 2000 to a world class wrestler in freestyle wrestling. He is a law student, but his main focus right now is wrestling. Mawlet Batirow impresses with an aggressive ring style, which is supported by his excellent physical conditions.
Just two years after the start of his wrestling career, he was used at the Junior European Championships (Cadets) in Bratislava in the weight class up to 46 kg body weight and came there behind Ersin Burak from Turkey on the excellent 2nd place. A year later, in 2001, he took the same place at the Junior World Championships (Juniors) in Tashkent . In the weight class up to 50 kg body weight, he only had to admit defeat to the Georgian Amiran Elbakidze. In 2002 he also competed in a junior championship. In Tirana he finally succeeded in winning the European Junior Championships in bantamweight ahead of Besarion Gochashvili from Georgia and Salih Prizreni from Albania .
In 2003 Mawlet Batirow got the chance to become world champion in the senior bantamweight division. In New York he met US co-favorite Stephen Abas in the first round , against whom he lost on points. According to the rules of the time, a victory in his next fight over the strong Namig Abdullajew from Azerbaijan did not help him much. He was eliminated and only finished 14th.
After becoming the Russian bantamweight champion in 2004, he was trusted by the Russian Federation at the Olympic Games in Athens . He fully justified this, because he was in Athens with victories over Bashir Ahmat Rahmati from Afghanistan , the 2003 world champion Dilshod Mansurov , Uzbekistan , Alexander Zacharjuk from Ukraine , Amiran Kartanow from Greece and Stephen Abas, whom he won with 9: 1 tech. Points dispatched, Olympic champion in bantamweight.
In 2005 Mawlet Batirow switched to featherweight. He lost in this weight class at the Russian championship against Alan Ilyich Dudajew , who was also world champion in featherweight that year. Alan Dudayev remained in the following years the main competitor of Mawlet Batirow in the featherweight division, who took 1st place at the important Ivan Yarigin tournament in Krasnoyarsk in 2006 and was then used at the European Championships that year in Moscow . He won four fights there and became European featherweight champion with a victory in the final over the Turks Tevfik Odabasi . As a favorite, he went to the 2006 World Cup in Guangzhou / China , but had to accept a surprising loss of points in the semifinals from the American Mike Zadick and therefore only came in 3rd place.
At the 2007 World Cup in Baku , however, he achieved great success again. He defeated, among others, Wassyl Fedoryschyn from Ukraine and Tevfik Odabasi and came in the final battle to a safe point victory over Anatoli Guidea from Bulgaria .
At the European Championships in Tampere in 2008 Mawlet Batirow left his brother Adam priority in his weight class . At the Olympic Games in Beijing he was at the start and won there in a superior style with victories over Selimchan Chusseinow from Azerbaijan , Yandro Quintana , Murad Ramazanow , Macedonia , Morad Mohammadi from Iran and others. Wassyl Fedoryschyn his second gold medal.
After Mawlet Batirov did not fight in 2009 and 2010, he made a comeback at the 2011 Russian championship. In the lightweight he took second place behind his brother Adam Batirow and ahead of Russal Dschukajew and Jamalutdin Kurbanalijew. His long-term goal will be the 2012 Olympic Games in London . For which he could not ultimately qualify.
