Anatoli Guidea (born January 21, 1977 in Nisporeni , now the Republic of Moldova ) is a Moldovan or Bulgarian wrestler . During his career he was European champion in 2003 and vice- world champion in free style in featherweight in 2007 .

Career

Anatoli Guidea started wrestling in 1989 in Moldova. He concentrates entirely on the free style. At a height of 1.64 meters, he first competed in the bantamweight and has been in the featherweight since 2002. In 2000, Anatli Guidea moved from Moldova to Bulgaria for economic reasons and has since started for the Bulgarian Wrestling Association and for the Litex Lovech sports club . During his career he was or is trained by the trainers Juri Tscherednik, Leonid Babira, Nicolae Oreol, Micho Dukow and Alexander Zubrilin. He is a businessman, but lives largely from wrestling. He is also well known in German wrestling circles because he competed for KSV Aalen for several years . From the 2011/12 season he will strengthen SV Germania Weingarten .

His international career, starting for Moldova, began in 1993 when he took 2nd place at the Junior World Championships (Cadets) in Duisburg in the weight class up to 40 kg body weight behind Adam Saitijew from Russia , who later became the 2000 Olympic middleweight champion in Sydney , occupied. In 1997 he represented Moldova at the European Bantamweight Championships in Warsaw , where he came in 7th after two wins and two defeats. In the same year he was then at the junior European championship (Juniors) in Istanbul in the bantamweight behind the Russian Bator Jargalov vice-European champion.

Anatoli Guidea started for Bulgaria in 2000. He had better training conditions there than in Moldova, but a much stronger competition from the Bulgarian wrestlers, who were still top international class. In 2000 he represented Bulgaria at the European Bantamweight Championships in Budapest and reached 7th place after victories over Adrian Stratu from Romania and Martin Berberjan from Armenia and a defeat against Arif Kama from Turkey . At the 2001 European Championships in Budapest he just missed the medals with a 5th place in bantamweight, as well as at the 2001 World Championships in Sofia , where he won three bantamweight wins, but lost against Guivi Sissaouri from Canada and David Pogosjan from Georgia and with it took 4th place.

After a weaker year in 2002, where he only finished 13th at the European featherweight championship in Baku , he surprised the wrestling world in 2003 by winning the European featherweight championship in Riga . He won there u. a. about Mario Koch from Germany and in the final about Arif Kama. In the same year he then experienced a bitter disappointment at the World Cup in New York. There he lost to Yandro Miguel Quintana Ribalta from Cuba (0:11 points) and to Wassil Fedorischin from Ukraine (0: 3 points) and ended up in 39th place with 40 participants due to his poor points account (0:14).

In 2004 Anatoli Guidea finished second behind Kamal Ustachanow from Russia at an Olympic qualification tournament in Bratislava , but came to this year's European Championships in Ankara after defeats against the wrestlers Andrei Fasanek from Slovakia and Levani Chabradze, who are not among the top European class from Georgia only in 11th place. The Bulgarian Wrestling Association then did not use him at the Olympic Games in Athens , but Ivan Velikov Djorew .

In 2005 Anatoli Guidea offered a disappointing performance at the World Championships in Budapest and lost to Ilie Vasile Esir from Moldova, which meant he only finished 24th. From 2006, apart from his title win at the European Championship in 2003, the best years in his wrestling career followed. Although he had to accept setbacks again and again in those years, the biggest setback was probably the fact that he did not succeed in qualifying for the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 , but he won five in total between 2006 and 2011 Medals at world and European championships. It started with a 3rd place at the European Championships in Moscow, which he won with victories over Murad Ramazanow from Macedonia and Petru Toarca from Romania. In 2007 he became vice European champion in Sofia, defeating Adam Batirow from Russia in the semifinals , but having to admit defeat to Vasil Fedorishin from Ukraine in the final.

In 2007 he came to the final at the World Championships in Baku , in which he was defeated by the 2004 bantamweight Olympic champion Mawlet Batirow from Russia. In 2008 Anatoli Guidea took third place at the European Championships in Tampere and won another medal. After a defeat in the semifinals against Wassyl Fedoryschyn he defeated Adam Batirow in the fight for 3rd place. In 2009 and 2010 he did not win a medal at the World and European Championships, but in 2011 he managed to secure a bronze medal at the European Championships in Dortmund with third place. In the small final he won this medal by defeating George Bucur from Romania.

Although he is now 34 years old, he will certainly do everything in his power to finally qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London .
