Career

Adam Batirow comes from a family of wrestlers. Two of his brothers are also successful wrestlers, with Mawlet Batirow, two years his senior, being the most successful as a two-time Olympic champion in 2004 and 2008. Brother Albert Batirov wrestles for Belarus .

Adam Batirow started wrestling in 1992 in Khasavyurt. He belongs to the wrestling club "Shamil Umachanow Chassavyurt". He is a sports student, is or was trained by Gadschi Raschidow and Salim Nujakhanov and wrestles exclusively in free style.

In 2001 Adam Batirow was 16 years old in Izmir Junior European Champion (Cadets) in the weight class up to 46 kg body weight (KG). He defended this title in 2002 in Vilnius in the weight class up to 50 kg, while in the same year he took 2nd place at the European Championships for the next higher age group in Tirana .

At the Junior World Championships 2003 in Istanbul (Juniors) he finished second behind the Turkish Ersin Cetin in the bantamweight (up to 55 kg body weight).

In 2004 Adam Batirow took 3rd place in the bantamweight division at the important "Ivan Yarigin" tournament in Krasnoyarsk behind his brother Mawlet and Banyrzhan Orazgaliew from Kazakhstan and was then used at the European Championships in Ankara , while his brother at the Olympic Games in Athens started. In Ankara he won over Gennadi Tulbea from Moldova , Kai Wedekind from Germany and Amiran Kartanow from Greece , but failed in the final against Martin Berberjan from Armenia and took 2nd place.

In 2007 Adam Batirow won the "Iwan-Yarigin" tournament in bantamweight, but was used in the European championship this year in Sofia in featherweight (up to 60 kg body weight). He came in Sofia to three wins, but then lost against Anatoli Guidea from Bulgaria with 1: 2 rounds and 1: 2 techn. Points and against Murad Ramazanow from Macedonia with 0: 2 rounds and 0: 4 techn. Points and missed a medal with 5th place.

Also at the European Championships in Tampere in 2008 he "only" came in 5th place when he lost three wins against Vasyl Fedoryschyn from the Ukraine and again against Anatoli Guidea. Against Guidea was his point defeat with 1: 2 round losses with 6: 7 techn. Points very close. After this result, Adam Batirow was out of the picture at the Olympic Games in Beijing this year, given the great breadth in the Russian wrestling camp.

In 2009 he won again at the "Iwan Yarigin" tournament. This time in featherweight and was then brought to the start at the European Championships in Vilnius in this weight class. But he did not succeed in becoming European champion there again. With victories over Artur Arakeljan from Armenia , Ersin Cetin and Wassyl Fedoryschyn he got into the final battle in which he lost against Zelimchan Huseinow from Azerbaijan with 1: 2 round losses .
