Career
Stadnik started wrestling in 1992 at the age of 10. His first coach was his father Volodymyr Stadnik. After studying at the Ukrainian Printing Academy, he joined the Ukrainian Ministry of Interior as a police officer. Since then he has been a member of the Spartak / Dynamo Lwow ( Lemberg ) sports club , where he is trained by Sasa Sasirow and Viktor Perwachtschuk. He wrestles exclusively in free style.
As a junior he started in 1999 at the World Championships in Łódź (Cadets) and came in 7th place in featherweight. He was far more successful at the Junior European Championship (Juniors) in Tirana in 2002 , because there he was European lightweight champion ahead of Elnur Aslanov from Azerbaijan and Mario Wohlfahrt from Germany .
In the senior category he came after a 11th place at the University World Cup in 2004 in Łódź in 2005 at the European Championships in Varna to his first medal win. He won there u. a. with wins over Irbek Walentinowitsch Farnijew from Russia and Peter Engelhardt from Germany the bronze medal in the lightweight. He won the same medal at the 2006 World Cup in Guangzhou / People's Republic of China . He lost there in the semifinals to the Georgian Otar Tuschishvili , but had previously u. a. defeated two absolute top wrestlers with Leonid Spiridonow from Kazakhstan and Machach Murtasalijew from Russia. He won the bronze medal in the fight against the multiple world and European champion Serafim Barzakow from Bulgaria , which he won with two rounds and 7: 1 techn. Points defeated.
In 2007 Stadnik missed out on medal wins at the international championships. At the European Championships in Sofia he lost in his first fight against the Armenian Shirair Howhannisjan (1: 2 rounds and 6: 8 technical points). Since this did not reach the finals, he was eliminated and only finished 13th. Things went better for him at the 2007 World Cup in Baku . He initially won four fights there, but then lost to Ramazan Şahin from Turkey and missed the small final with another defeat against Irbek Farnijew, against whom he lost significantly (0: 2 rounds with 2:10 technical points) 5th place. With this placement he had already secured a starting place at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing .
At the European Championships in Tampere in 2008 Stadnik won in the lightweight against Gregor Sarrasin from Switzerland and Albert Batirow from Belarus , but then lost to Koba Kakaladze from Georgia and again against Shirair Howhannisjan and only came in 7th place. At the Olympic Games in Beijing he was in far better shape at the lightweight. He defeated there Doug Schwab from the United States, Sushil Kumar from India , Albert Batirow and Leonid Spiridonow and was in the final against Ramazan Şahin . He delivered this an even fight and was only barely defeated with 1: 2 rounds and 5: 6 techn. Points. The silver medal was the reward for his good work.
At the end of March 2009 in Vilnius held European championships, he achieved five wins. In the semifinals he defeated his feared opponent Schirair Howhannisjan and in the final Jabrail Hasanow from Azerbaijan and became the European lightweight champion.
