Career

Cəbrayıl Həsənov started wrestling as a teenager in 2000. Aslan Agayev has been his coach since then. He belongs to the sports club Inter-Zenit Baku and is only active in free style. At a height of 1.67 meters, the current student is wrestling in the lightweight, weight class up to 66 kg body weight.

Cəbrayıl Həsənov was already extremely successful as a junior. He contested his first international championship in 2005 at the Junior European Championship (Cadets) in Tirana in the weight class up to 46 kg body weight, in which he won a medal with third place. By 2009 he won another six medals at junior world and European championships. In 2007 he became Junior European Champion (Cadets) in Warsaw in the weight class up to 63 kg body weight and in 2009 even Junior World Champion (Juniors) in the lightweight category ahead of David Safarjan from Russia .

In 2009 he took second place at the European Championships in Vilnius in the lightweight behind Andrei Stadnik from Ukraine . He had thus achieved a seamless transition from juniors to seniors. At the 2009 World Championships in Herning / Denmark , however, he had to be satisfied with a 7th place after a defeat against the 2008 Olympic third-party Sushil Kumar from India . In 2010 he was in Baku with a victory in the final battle against Magomedmurad Gadschijew , Russia, European lightweight champion and at the World Championships in Moscow he won his first medal in a senior citizen with a victory in the fight for 3rd place over the Mongols Bujandschawyn Batdsorig World Championship. Before this fight, he failed again in the semifinals to Sushil Kumar, who also became world champion.

In March 2011 Cəbrayıl Həsənov managed to defend his title at the European Championships in Dortmund . He won there u. a. over Gergő Wöller from Hungary , Saba Bolaghi , Germany and in the final battle over Leonid Basan from Bulgaria . At this year's World Cup in Istanbul , Jabrail Hasanow won over Stelios Mama, Cyprus and Gergő Wöller from Hungary, but then lost to Tatsuhiro Yonemitsu from Japan and missed the finals. But he was able to secure a bronze medal with victories over Bujandschawyn Batdsorig from Mongolia and Leonid Basan from Romania.

At the 2012 Olympic Games in London he won the lightweight first over Leonid Basan and Ali Schabanow from Belarus, but then lost again to Tatsuhiro Yonemitsu and in the battle for an Olympic bronze medal also to Livan Lopez Azcuy from Cuba and therefore had to fight for 5th place. Satisfy space.

In 2013 Jabrail Hasanow won the silver medal at the Universiade in Kazan in the welterweight category behind Denis Zargusch . At the World Championships that year in Budapest he came in 8th place in the same weight class because, after victories over Anchbayar Batchuluun, Mongolia and Luca Lampis from France, he beat Jordan Burroughs from the United States and the Indian Narsingh Panchav Yadav lost.

In April 2014, however, he won a silver medal again in the weight class up to 74 kg at the European Championships in Vantaa / Finland. He lost there in the final battle against Aniuar Gedujew from Russia. He was not used at the World Cup in Tashkent that year.

At the 1st European Games in Baku in 2015 he won a bronze medal in the same weight class after a somewhat surprising defeat against Söner Demirtas from Turkey in the consolation round with victories over Henri Silenius from Finland and Kiril Tersiew from Bulgaria. At the 2015 World Cup in Las Vegas, he first won over the Swiss Stefan Reichmuth, but then lost again to Aniuar Gedujew. Since this did not reach the final, he was eliminated and only came in 21st place. This means that he still lacks the right to start the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
