At the Bulgarian championship in 2008 he was able to defeat Paslar in the final and be Bulgarian champion before this and before Iwan Deliverski . He was then used at the European Championships in Tampere , but came there after a point victory over Heris Tajic, Bosnia and Herzegovina and after a defeat against Suren Markosjan from Armenia not beyond the 13th place.

At the Olympic qualification tournament in Martigny / Switzerland he won the ticket to the Olympic Games in Beijing with a 3rd place behind Soslan Tigijew from Uzbekistan and Ashgar Ali Bazrighaleb from Iran . In Beijing he beat Massoud Moustafa Jokar from Iran and Arsen Gitinow from Kyrgyzstan , but lost in the semi-finals to Buwaisar Saitijew from Russia . In the fight for one of the two bronze medals he stayed in a tough fight with 11: 8 techn. Points and 2-0 rounds over Iván Fundora from Cuba victorious.

In 2009 Kiril Tersiew was again Bulgarian welterweight champion before Iwan Deliverski and Teodor Stojew and Kiril also started again at the European Championships in Vilnius . In welterweight he succeeded after victories over Marco Riesen, Switzerland a . Alexander Burca, Moldova and a loss in the semifinals against Tschamsulwara Tschamsulwarajew , Azerbaijan also won the fight for the bronze medal against Andriy Shyyka from Germany . At the 2009 World Championships in Herning / Denmark , he won over Kazuyuki Nagashima from Japan and Suren Markosjan. However, a defeat in the quarterfinals against Ramesh Kumar from India threw him out of the race because Kumar then did not reach the final. He finished 8th.
