Makhach Dalgatowitsch Murtasalijew ( Russian Махач Далгатович Муртазалиев , Avar МахӀач ТӀалхӀатил МуртазгӀалиев ; born June 4, 1984 in Hasavyurt ) is a Russian wrestler . He became world champion in free style in 2005 in lightweight and 2007 in welterweight.

Career

Makhach Murtasaliev was born in Khassavyurt in the Caucasian republic of Dagestan . He started wrestling in 1996 and has been trained by Abdurachman Mirsojew for some time. He concentrates fully on the free style. Makhach Murtasaliev is a member of the army sports club CSKA Moscow , but is no longer in the Russian army, but is enrolled as a law student at the University of Dagestan in Makhachkala .

The sporting successes of Makhach Murtasalijew set in as a junior. In 2000 in Bratislava he became Junior European Champion (Cadets) in free style in the weight class up to 42 kg body weight. Also in 2001 he was Junior European Champion with the Cadets in Izmir . He was promoted to the weight class up to 54 kg body weight. Finally he succeeded in 2003 in Istanbul to become Junior World Champion (Juniors) in featherweight (up to 60 kg body weight).

As a 20-year-old athlete, he was used for the first time in 2004 in Ankara at the European Senior Championships. He managed to defeat the strong Turkish Ömer Çubukçi in the semifinals and the Ossetian Elbrus Tedejew , who started for Ukraine , in the final and to become European champion straight away . He then also prevailed in the Russian elimination for the Olympic Games in Athens against his main rival Irbek Farnijew and represented Russia in Athens in the lightweight. In Athens, however, he was defeated in the semifinals against the American Jamill Kelly . But he won the battle for the bronze medal against Leonid Spiridonow from Kazakhstan . Olympic champion was Elbrus Tedejew, whom Makhach Murtasalijew no longer met because of his defeat against Kelly.

In 2005 Irbek Farnijew was Russian champion in the lightweight and therefore used in the European championship. But he disappointed there and only finished 9th. That is why Makhach Murtasalijew was awarded the starting place at this year's World Cup in Budapest and fully justified this trust of the Russian team management, because he became world champion with five wins in a superior style. In the final he defeated the multiple Bulgarian world champion Serafim Barsakow 2-0 on points.

At the 2006 European Championships in Moscow , Makhach Murtasalijew continued his streak of success, as he was European champion for the second time after 2004 with victories in the decisive fights over Ruslan Elkijew , Ukraine, Serafim Barsakow and Albert Batyrau from Belarus . But he disappointed at the 2006 World Cup in Guangzhou / China , because he lost there in the quarter-finals against Andrij Stadnik from Ukraine and only finished in 9th place, which was disappointing for him.

The Russian wrestler president Mikhail Mamiashvili continued to bet on the young Makhach Murtasalijew. This then also proved his strength at the European Championships in Sofia in 2007 , because he was again European champion in the welterweight division with a 5-0 point win in the final over Ruslan Kokajew from Armenia . And he also impressed with winning the title at the 2007 World Cup in Baku . In the semifinals he defeated Joe Heskett from the USA and in the final Ibrahim Aldatow from Ukraine.

In January 2008, at the "Ivan Yarigin" memorial in Krasnoyarsk, he met Buwaissar Saitijew , the legendary two-time Russian Olympic champion and multiple world champion, who was aiming for a start at the Olympic Games in Beijing . The younger Murtasalijew prevailed with two smooth round wins (1: 0 and 3: 1) and became the tournament winner. He was then used at the European Welterweight Championships in Tampere and won the European title there again. In the final he defeated Murad Hajdarau from Belarus on points. At the Russian championship in June 2008 there was then another clash between Makhach Murtasalijew and Buwaissar Saitijew in the final, which Saitijew won just on points. Saitijew then received the starting place at the Olympic Games in Beijing.
