Mikhail Ganev
Mikhail Petrov Ganew ( Bulgarian Михаил Петров Ганев , English Mihail Petrov Ganev , born January 5, 1985 in Veliko Tarnovo , Bulgaria ) is a Bulgarian wrestler . It was 2010 world champion in free style middleweight.
Career
Mikhail Ganev started wrestling as a teenager in 1996. He is only active in free style and is now a member of the top Bulgarian club Levski Sofia . He is or was trained there by Petar Kassabow and Simeon Schterew . At a height of 1.70 meters, he initially wrestled in the welterweight division as an adult, but switched to the middleweight division in 2008. He was already one of the best Bulgarian wrestlers in the youth field and was therefore used in several junior world and European championships. The greatest success that he achieved was winning the world junior title in 2005 in the welterweight division. He is also well known in Germany's wrestling circles, since he has been wrestling for 1. Luckenwalder SC in the German Bundesliga since 2007.
In 2006 Mikhail Ganew started for the first time at a world championship for seniors. In Guangzhou he created a sensation in the welterweight division when, as a newcomer, he defeated two-time Olympic champion and multiple world and European champion Buwaissar Saitijew from Russia on points. He managed the trick, after losing the first round (0: 3 technical points), to win the second and third round with a tie (2: 2 or 1: 1 technical points) by the last evaluation. After the fight against Saitijew he lost in this championship against Ibrahim Aldatow from Ukraine and against Soslan Tigiyev from Uzbekistan and only came in 5th place.
In 2007 Mikhail Ganew finished 5th at the European welterweight championships in Sofia , where he lost after winning two fights against the experienced Caucasian wrestler Makhach Murtasalijew , who started for Russia and Çamsulvara Çamsulvarayev , who wrestled for Azerbaijan . At the World Cup this year in Baku he lost in his first fight against Krystian Brzozowski from Poland , with which he was eliminated and only came in 27th place.
In 2008, Mikhail Ganew moved to the middleweight division due to weight problems. He came in this weight class at the Bulgarian championship behind Arkadi Tsopa but only on the 2nd place and therefore got no more chance from the Bulgarian Wrestling Association to qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing . But he was used at the European Championships in Tampere in 2008 , but lost there in the first round against Piotr Ianulov from Moldova and only reached 13th place.
In 2009 he was preferred by the Bulgarian Wrestling Federation at the international championships Miroslaw Gechev . In 2010, Mikhail Ganew was at the European Middleweight Championship in Baku. He defeated there Radosław Marcinkewicz from Poland, Armands Zvirbulis from Latvia and Ibrahim Aldatow and lost in the semifinals against Ansor Urischew from Russia. In the fight for a European Championship bronze medal , he then defeated Anthony Junior Fasugba from Italy , with which he won his first medal at an international championship in the senior sector . At this year's World Cup in Moscow , he added another success to this success. He became the new world middleweight champion there with victories over Stephen Hill, New Zealand , Piotr Ianulov, Maciej Balwender, Poland, Soslan Kzojew , Russia and Zaurbek Soxiyev .
This results in the peculiarity that with Michail Ganew (free style) for 1. Luckenwalder SC and with Christo Marinow (Greco-Roman style) for AC Lichtenfels, both middleweight world champions wrestled in the German Bundesliga in the 2010/11 season.
On December 26, 2010, Ganew was stabbed by a knife while settling a dispute in a discotheque in Gabrovo and was subsequently treated as an inpatient. He could not take part in the upcoming European Championship 2011 in March.
However, Michail Ganew recovered so quickly that he could soon resume training and take part in the European Championship in Dortmund in March 2011 . However, throughout 2011 you could tell that he was still behind in training. In the European championship he won over István Veréb , Hungary and Michael Zozelaschwili, Israel , but was then defeated in the quarterfinals against Gheorghiță Ștefan from Romania and came in 7th place. He also competed in the middleweight division at the 2011 World Cup in Istanbul . He came there to victories over István Veréb and Serdar Böke, Turkey, but lost to Alireza Goudarzi from Iran and only reached 13th place.
In 2012, Michail Ganew was runner-up in Belgrade with victories over Nathanael Leedon Ackerman, Great Britain, Konstantin Völk, Germany, Ansor Urischow and Armands Zvirbulis, Latvia and a defeat in the final battle against Dato Marsagishwili , Georgia. This space was not enough to participate in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He then tried to qualify for these games in three tournaments in Sofia, Taiyuan / China and Helsinki, but did not succeed.
