Gandsorigiin Mandachnaran ( Mongolian Ганзоригийн Мандахнаран ; born May 11, 1986 in the province of Töw-Aimag ) is a Mongolian wrestler .

Career

Gandsorigiin Mandachnaran took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in lightweight . After victories over Yogeshwar Dutt and Yeerlanbieke Katai, he lost to the Russian Soslan Ramonow in the quarterfinals . However, he was able to qualify for the bronze medal by winning the round of hope against Haislan Garcia .

His opponent in the battle for bronze was Ixtiyor Navroʻzov from Uzbekistan. When Mandachnaran was leading 7: 6 with five seconds to go, he was already beginning to celebrate the victory and withdraw from the opponent. In response, he received one point of inactivity. This led to Navroʻzov winning the bronze medal because he had scored the last point when there was a tie. The Mongolian coaches protested against this score, which could not be challenged, by undressing on the mat in front of the judges and throwing their clothes on the table of the jury. This protest led to another penalty point for the Mongol, so that Navroʻzov won 7: 8. Both coaches were banned from United World Wrestling for three years in September 2016 .
