Yogeshwar Dutt, 2010

Yogeshwar Dutt ( Hindi योगेश्वर दत्त ; born November 22, 1982 in Bhainswal Kalan , District Sonipat, Haryana) is an Indian wrestler . He won a bronze medal in featherweight at the 2012 Olympics .

Career

Yogeshwar Dutt began wrestling in his hometown at the age of eight. His first trainer was Ramphal. He now belongs to the Chhattral Stadium Delhi Sports Club and is trained by Satbir Singh and Yasbir Singh. He is a police officer. The 1.67 meter tall athlete initially started in the bantam weight (up to 55 kg) and in 2005 switched to the featherweight , the weight class up to 60 kg body weight. With a few rare exceptions, he always started in free style.

He began his international career as a junior in 1999. In Lodz, he immediately became Junior World Champion in the Cadets age group (up to the age of 16) in the weight class up to 42 kg. At the Junior World Championships for the Juniors age group (up to the age of 18) in 2001 in Tashkent, he was far less successful in the weight class, because he lost both fights there and ended up only in 19th place. In 2002 he became Asian junior champion in the weight class up to 54 kg in Mashad / Iran.

In 2004 he succeeded in winning the bantamweight Olympic qualification tournament in Sofia by winning a tournament in front of such renowned wrestlers as Kim Hyo-sub , South Korea, Aljaksandr Kantojeu , Russia and Radoslaw Velikow , Bulgaria, for the Olympic Games in Athens to qualify. In Athens Yogeshwar Dutt lost to Chikara Tanabe , Japan and Namig Abdullajew from Azerbaijan and therefore only came in 18th place.

In 2005 he finished 5th at the Asian Championships in Wuhan in featherweight. At the Commonwealth Championships this year in Stellenbosch he won in free style in front of his compatriot Ravinder Singh and took 2nd place in the Greco-Roman style behind the same wrestler. In 2006 he fought for an excellent 5th place at the World Featherweight Championships in Guangzhou. He defeated Anatoli Guidea , Bulgaria and Ko Young-Chol, North Korea, then lost to Mike Zadick , USA, won over Aljaksandr Karnizki , Belarus and was defeated in the battle for a bronze medal against Mawlet Batirow from Russia. In December 2006 he won the bronze medal at the Asian Games in Doha behind Seyed Mourad Mohammadi Pahnekalaei, Iran and Song Jae-myung, South Korea.

In 2007 Yogeshwar Dutt had to be content with an 8th place at the Asian Championships in Bishkek in featherweight. He then won the, albeit weak, Commonwealth Championships in London in free style in front of his compatriot Hardeep Sing and took 2nd place in the Greco-Roman Sil behind Ravinder Singh. At the 2007 World Cup in Baku he defeated Hussain Gowdooei, Qatar, but then lost to Tevfik Odabasi , Turkey, dropped out and only came in 16th. In 2008 he became the first Asian champion in Jeju / South Korea. In featherweight he won there before Noriyuki Takatsuka, Japan, Yais Tlegenow, Uzbekistan and Seyed Mourad Mohammadi Pahnekalaei. He was thus also entitled to start at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. There he came to a victory over Baurschan Orasgalijew, Kazakhstan, but lost his next fight against Kenichi Yumoto from Japan. Since this did not reach the final battle, he was eliminated and came in 9th place.

In 2009 Yogeshwar Dutt was not at the start of any international championships and in 2010 he came to the World Championships in Moscow, after losing his first fight against Sahit Prizreni from Albania there, only to 22nd place. But then he won the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi ahead of James Mancini from Canada and Alexander Madjarchik from England. At the 2011 World Cup in Istanbul, he had to admit defeat to Iranian Masoud Esmailpourjouybari in his first fight , with which he was eliminated and only came in 35th place.

Yogeshwar Dutt was very successful in the 2012 Olympic year. In February of this year he was Asian champion in Gumi / South Korea ahead of Masoud Esmailpoujouybari, band sunglass Bayan monk , Mongolia and Tomotsuga Ishida, Japan. In March 2012 he qualified in Astana by a 2nd place in the qualifying tournament for participation in his third Olympic Games in London. In London he achieved the greatest success of his career so far, because he won there with a victory over Anatoli Guidea, a defeat against Bessik Kuduchow , Russia and victories over Franklin Gómez Matos, Puerto Rico, Masoud Esmailpourjouybari and Ri Jong-Myong , North Korea a bronze medal.
