Novruz Temrezov ( Russian Науруз Срапилевич Темрезов , Azerbaijani Novruz Temrezov ; born January 6, 1981 in Karachayevsk ) is a Russian or Azerbaijani wrestler . He won a bronze medal in free style in the middleweight division at the European Championships in 2005, 2008 and 2009.

Career

Novruz Temrezov is one of the many Caucasian wrestlers who dominate wrestling, especially in free style, on the Russian and international wrestling mats. He started wrestling in 1995. First he started for Russia, but was only able to compete in the top class there in 2005 against the extremely strong competition.

In 2005 he won the renowned "Ivan Yarigin" tournament in Krasnoyarsk ahead of Vadim Laliew , Russia, Lee Fullhart from the United States and Georgi Ketojew from Russia. At the Russian championship this year he came in the middleweight behind Schirwani Muradow and Saschid Saschidow on the 3rd place.

Novruz Temrezov was used by the Russian Wrestling Federation in 2005 at the European Middleweight Championship in Varna . He won three fights there, but lost to the Turkish Serhat Balci and thus took 3rd place. He fought for this place with a point win (4: 1 technical points) against the German David Bichinaschwili .

In 2006 he came in 3rd place at the "Ivan Yarigin" tournament behind his Russian compatriots Adam Saitijew and Schirwani Muradow . He did not get any appearances at international championships that year.

Because of the great competition in Russia, Novruz Temrezov moved to Azerbaijan in 2007 . He became a member of the sports club Alasport Baku and is trained there by Alchaz Tschatschajew and Elman Askerow. He then started for Azerbaijan at the World Cup in Baku this year. He succeeded there in his first fight a narrow point victory (3: 2 technical points) over the ex-world champion Rewas Mindoraschwili from Georgia . In his second fight he lost with the same result against the strong Iranian Reza Yazdani . But since he did not reach the final, he was eliminated after the second round and only finished 17th, which certainly did not correspond to his actual performance.

In 2008 Novruz Temrezov won a bronze medal again at the European Middleweight Championships in Tampere . After losing in the semi-finals to Georgi Ketojew , a Georgian starting for Russia, he defeated Vadim Laliew , a Russian starting for Armenia, in the fight for this medal . At the Olympic Games in Beijing, he defeated Tschagnaadordschiin Gandsorig from Mongolia and Reza Yazdani . In the quarterfinals he was defeated by Georgi Ketojew. Surprisingly, Ketojew did not reach the final because of a defeat against Revas Mindorashvili , so Naurus Temresow was eliminated and finished in 7th place.

In 2009 Novruz Temrezov won a bronze medal for the third time at the European Championships in Vilnius . He was defeated there in the semifinals by his Caucasian compatriot Soslan Ktsoyev , who started for Russia, but won the bronze medal with a clear point victory over the Bulgarian Miroslaw Geschew .

In 2010 he started again in the middleweight division at the World Championships in Moscow . He won there over Gokhan Yavaşer from Turkey and Emzarios Bentinidis , Greece , but lost in the quarterfinals against Soslan Ktsoyev from Russia. Since this did not reach the final battle, he had to retire and ended up in 10th place.
