Saschid Chalilrachimowitsch Saschidow ( Russian Сажид Халилрахимович Сажидов ; born February 6, 1980 in Gigatli , Dagestani ASSR ) is a Russian wrestler of Dagestan origin. He was world champion in 2003 and 2006 and won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in 2004 in free style in the middleweight division.

Career

Saschid Saschidow began wrestling as a teenager. He belonged first to the army sports club CSKA Makhachkala and then to the army sports club CSKA Moscow . He is also a sports student. His membership in the army serves only for social security. He's actually a wrestler by profession. His trainers were or are Dalgat Abdulbasirow, Mairbek Jusupow u. Said Murtasaliev. He focuses entirely on free style. Even as a junior he celebrated great successes, because between 1995 and 2000 he was three times world champion and once European champion in the individual categories of juniors .

In the senior division, he won the European middleweight title right from his first start at the 2001 European Championships in Budapest . In the final, he defeated the Georgian David Bichinashvili , who at that time still competed for Ukraine , but is now a German citizen and competes for Germany . The point victory of Saschid Saschidow over Bichinaschwili was very close with 4: 3.

In 2002 Saschid Saschidow won the prestigious "Ivan-Yarigin" tournament in Krasnoyarsk in the middleweight division ahead of Chadschimurad Gazalow , Chadschimurad Magomedow and Shamil Gitinow , all from Russia and Lee Fullhart from the United States. This year he was only used at the European Championships in Baku , where he won the title again. In the decisive battles he defeated Andre Backhaus from Germany, Mogamed Ibragimov from Macedonia and Bekbulat Mussajeu from Belarus .

In 2003 he represented Russia at the World Middleweight Championship in New York City . There he won over Arkadij Zopa from Bulgaria , Bujandelgeriin Batbajar from Mongolia , Moon Eui-Jae from South Korea , Yoel Romero from Cuba and Sergei Borchanka from Ukraine. In the final, he met the US local hero Cael Sanderson , a bulky, very difficult to wrestle athlete, whom he just 4: 3 techn. Could defeat points. It was the first time in his career that he became world champion among seniors.

At the "Ivan Yarigin" tournament in 2004 he won ahead of the world-class athletes Cael Sanderson , Wadim Lalijew from Russia, Magomed Kurugliew from Kazakhstan and Adam Saitijew from Russia and thus qualified for the Russian team at the Olympic Games in Athens. In Athens, after three easy victories in the first rounds, he met South Korean Moon Eui-Jae, whom he had clearly dominated at the 2003 World Cup, in the semi-finals. In Athens Moon turned the tables and clearly beat Saschid Saschidow on points (10: 2 technical points). This no longer had a chance to fight for the gold medal, but won the fight for the bronze medal against Yoel Romero from Cuba. Olympic champion was Cael Sanderson, who defeated Moon Eui-Jae .

In 2005 Saschid Saschidow was defeated at the Russian middleweight championship in the final fight by Shirvani Muradov . He was nevertheless used at the World Cup in Budapest , where he disappointed from a Russian point of view, because he lost against Rewas Mindorashvili from Georgia on points and had to bow to Kazak Magomed Kurugliew in the battle for the bronze medal .

In 2006 he triumphed for the second time at the World Championships in Guangzhou / China. He won there with five wins and defeated Taras Danko from Ukraine in the semifinals and Revas Mindorashvili in the final .

In 2007, Saschid Saschidow was beaten at the Russian Middleweight Championship in the final by Georgi Ketojew just on points, which result was very controversial and led to tumult on the mat. In the semifinals of this championship he had just as tightly beaten Adam Saitijew as he lost to Ketojew. The "Ivan Yarigin" tournament in Krasnoyarsk in 2008 produced the same result , where Georgi Ketojew won ahead of Saschid Saschidow, Adam Saitijew and Soslan Kzojew . For Saschid Saschidow, these results meant that he did not come to any use at the Olympic Games in Beijing , the 2007 World Cup and the 2007 and 2008 European Championships.

His last international success was therefore winning the World Cup title at the 2007 Military World Cup in Hyderabad ahead of Radoslaw Horbik from Poland .
