He wrestled exclusively in free style and was Montana high school welterweight champion three times in a row from 1993 to 1995 . After high school he attended the University of North Dakota and graduated with a degree in economics in 2000. He then went to Minneapolis and became a member of the Minnesota Storm WC wrestling club .

In 1995 he was sent to Budapest for the Junior World Championship (Cadets). He came there in the welterweight division on the 8th place.

As a student wrestler, he took part in the NCAA Championships (US student championship) for the first time in 1998 and took fifth place in the middleweight division. In 1999 he finished 2nd in this championship behind Cael Sanderson , who became Olympic champion in 2004 . In 2000 he took part for the third time in the NCAA Championships and came in the middleweight division behind Cael Sanderson and Vertus Jones in 3rd place.

In 2001 he started for the first time at the US championship, but finished there in the middleweight division behind Cael Sanderson , Lee Fullhart and Charles Burton only 4th place. But that year he also took part in the US World Championship elimination, where he finished second behind Cael Sanderson. When Sanderson was out due to an injury shortly before the World Cup in Sofia , Brandon Eggum was appointed to the US team at short notice. Before that, Brandon Eggum had only contested one international fight, apart from the Junior World Championships in 1994, in which he defeated Nuri Zengin on points in 2001 in Sioux Falls in an international match between the USA and Turkey .

In 2002 Brandon Eggum was also used in the Pan-American Championship in Caracas . He also took 2nd place there behind Yoel Romero from Cuba .

Brandon Eggum did not take part in any other international championships. He had his in the United States in Cael Sanderson a rival he could not defeat and the 2003 vice-champion and the World Cup at the Olympic Games in Athens Olympic champion was.

Brandon Eggum took part in several international tournaments that took place in the United States until 2004. At the US Championships in 2003 and 2004, he took 3rd and 5th place in the middleweight division.

In 2001 he took a coaching position at The Golden Gopher Minnesota WC and also coaches the wrestling club Hi-Flyers Minnesota , where he mainly takes care of youth work.
