Şrif Şrifov

Şərif Şərifov (also Sharif Sharifov ; born November 11, 1988 in Gunuch, Dagestani ASSR , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is an Azerbaijani wrestler . In 2010 he was runner-up in the European free style middleweight division. In 2011 he became world champion and 2012 Olympic champion .

Career

Şərif Şərifov has been wrestling since 2000. He starts for the sports club Ataspor Baku and is or was trained by Magomed Gadschijew and Anwar Kuramagomedow. He focuses entirely on free style and is middleweight, the weight class up to 84 kg body weight.

He first appeared internationally as a 20-year-old in 2008 at the Golden Grand Prix tournament in Baku , where he took 3rd place behind Reza Yazgadi from Iran and Nikoloz Gagnidse, Georgia . He took the same place at the same tournament in 2009. This time, however, Jamal Mirzaei from Iran and Sajurbek Sochijew from Uzbekistan were ahead of him. In 2009 it was used for the first time at an international championship, the World Championship in Herning / Denmark . He was able to convince there as a "newcomer" and after a victory over Alexei Isajew, Belarus , a defeat against Jake Herbert , USA and victories over David Bichinashvili , Germany , Gökhan Yavaşer , Turkey and Abdussalam Gadissow , Russia , he took 3rd place . Particularly noteworthy is his victory over the Russian master Gadissow, whom he relegated to 5th place with his victory.

2010 Ş rif Şərifov won the heavily occupied "Yasar-Dogu" Memorial in Ankara in the middleweight division ahead of Albert Saritow, Russia, Serdar Böke and Erhan Cihangiroglu both from Turkey. At the 2010 European Championships in Baku, he defeated Dejan Bogdanow, Macedonia , Said Itajew, France and Ştefan Gheorghiţă from Romania . In the final he was defeated by Ansor Urischew from Russia and became vice European champion. He was not used at the World Cup that year.

In 2011 he started at the European Championships in Dortmund and won a bronze medal in the middleweight division . He defeated David Bichinashvili , Germany , Ibragim Aldatow , Ukraine and Emzarios Bentinidis , Greece . In the semifinals he lost to Ansor Suadinowitsch Urischew | Ansor Urischew (0: 2 rounds, 0: 4 points), but won the battle for the bronze medal over Maciej Balawender from Poland again by points (2: 0 rounds, 5: 1 points). Then he also won the middleweight competition at the Golden Grand Prix in Baku . Here he relegated Serdar Böke , Turkey, Piotr Ianulow , Moldova and Soslan Kzojew from Russia to their places. The highlight of his career so far was the world championships in Istanbul , because he won the world championship there with six wins. He did not give up a single round and thus scored 12-0 round wins. He defeated the following opponents: Yoon Chan-Urk, South Korea , Cael Sanderson , USA , the 2004 Olympic champion , Ermek Baiduaschew, Kazakhstan, Alireza Goudarzi , Iran, Albert Saritow , Russia and Ibragim Aldatow.

In 2012 he achieved another great success. He became Olympic champion in London . On the way to this success he defeated Ibrahim Bolukbasi , Turkey, Jake Herbert , USA, Ehsan Naser Lashgari , Iran and Jaime Yusept Espinal from Puerto Rico .

In 2013 Şərif Şərifov did not start at any international championships, but with good results in some well-filled international tournaments.
