Mark Schultz (wrestler)
Mark Schultz (born October 26, 1960 in Palo Alto , California ) is a retired American wrestler .
Career
Mark Schultz grew up in Palo Alto and attended high school there. At first, wrestling was not his main sport; instead, he primarily devoted himself to gymnastics. It was only when his older brother David achieved great success in university wrestling that he started wrestling more seriously. After moving to the University of Oklahoma , he achieved many victories in university wrestling ( NCAA ). There was a legendary fight in 1982 when he beat the multiple university champion Ed Banach , who, like Mark Schultz and his brother David , should become Olympic champion in Los Angeles in 1984 , safely on points. Mark Schultz was also several times USA champion and was besides his Olympic victory, also 1985 and 1987 world champion in freestyle wrestling (middleweight). In 1988 Mark Schultz ended his career as an amateur wrestler. He was first a trainer at Brigham Young University , Stanford University and the Air Force Academy , later Jiu-Jitsu fighter (Japanese Jiu Jitsuka ) and "Ultimate Fighter". In 1989, Schultz caused a scandal at Villanova University , where Schultz worked as an assistant coach. Schultz were accused of violating the NCAA regulations, including a.
