Ernst Kyburz (* 14. August 1898 ; † 16th October 1983 ) was a Swiss oscillator and Ringer . He won a gold medal in the middleweight division at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam .
In Amsterdam, Ernst Kyburz, who came from the canton of Bern , defeated T. Bolger, Australia , A. Praeg, South Africa , Ralph Hammonds, USA and Donald Stockton from Canada . Ernst Kyburz was also European champion in free style in the middleweight division in Budapest in 1931 . He defeated Hans Stiedl from Austria , Joseph van Opstal from Belgium , Jean Jourlin from France , Kyösti Luukko from Finland and Peter Glavanov from Hungary .
Ernst Kyburz was active for a very long time. In 1937 he was still in Bern in the Swiss national relay, which was fighting an international match against Germany . He lost in the light heavyweight division (back then up to 87 kg body weight) against Paul Böhmer .
In addition, Ernst Kyburz was also an excellent Swiss wrestler . Among other things, he was in the final course at the Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival in 1926, which ended in a draw against Ernst Hagmann - he finally had to be content with fourth place. At the second Kilchbergschwinget in 1932 he was second - but was not in the final course.
