Paul Böhmer (wrestler)

Paul Böhmer (born May 3, 1907 in Staffelstein , † January 5, 1983 in Schönau am Koenigssee ) was a German wrestler .

Career

He started wrestling and weightlifting at the Lichtenfels Athletes Club , but soon turned to wrestling. He learned the butcher's trade and then went on "wandering", first wrestling for TV Jahn Göppingen and AK Pirmasens , whose team he helped to win the German team championship in 1929 against AC youth force Zella-Mehlis . Paul Böhmer moved on until he found a permanent place to stay at AC Bad Reichenhall and became a well-known master butcher and innkeeper in Königssee. With AC Bad Reichenhall, he won the German team championship again in 1950 , this time against Viktoria Eckenheim, together with Josef Paar , Peter Enzinger and Bartolomäus "Bartl" Brötzner . Paul Böhmer was often on the mat in German national teams until 1942. He always showed exemplary commitment and, as a light heavyweight, often wrestled in the heavyweight division. So also in an international match against Estonia, when he fought against the European champion of 1938 and 1939 Johannes Kotkas , but lost.
