Zaurbek Soxiyev
Zaurbek Soxiyev (born June 1, 1986 in North Ossetia ) is an Uzbek wrestler . He became the 2009 middleweight freestyle world champion.
Career
Zaurbek Soxiyev started wrestling as a teenager in 1993. In his youth he started in North Ossetia and Russia . He has been competing for Dinamo Tashkent and therefore for Uzbekistan since he was 18 . He wrestles exclusively in free style. His trainers are or were Aslanbek Bekojew u. Kazbek Didikayev. The 1.76 meter tall athlete wrestles in the middleweight division and is a law student.
He made his debut on the international wrestling mat in 2005 at the Junior World Championships in Vilnius , where he was eliminated in the middleweight division after a defeat in his first fight against Nikolos Gagnidze from Georgia and only finished 17th. Just one year later, in 2006, he had established himself among the seniors and took an excellent 2nd place at the Asian Championships in Almaty behind Tschagnaadordschiin Gandsorig from Mongolia, ahead of such an expert as Gennadi Lalijew , an Ossetian who started for Kazakhstan and a silver medalist. Winner of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens .
At the age of just 20, he also won a medal at the 2006 World Cup in Guangzhou (formerly Canton). He defeated Thomas Bucheli from Switzerland , Noh Je-hyung from South Korea a . Shinya Matsumoto from Japan lost to Rewas Mindorashvili from Georgia in the semi-finals and defeated Vadim Lalijew , the brother of Gennadi Lalijew , who started for Armenia , in the battle for one of the bronze medals . In December 2006, Soxiyev then won the silver medal at the Asian Middleweight Games in Doha . He lost to the Iranian Reza Yazdani on points in the final battle .
Also in 2007 Soxiyev won a medal at the World Middleweight Championship in Baku . He lost his first fight there against Yusup Abdusalamow from Tajikistan , but then won the consolation round over Lee Du-soo from South Korea, Lazaros Loizidis from Greece and Serhat Balci from Turkey and thus won a World Cup bronze medal , which he himself won had also qualified to participate in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
In Beijing, Soxiyev came to a victory over Gennady Lalijew , but then lost to Georgi Ketojew , who started for Russia and who was world champion in 2007. Since Ketojew surprisingly did not reach the final, Soxiyev was eliminated and only achieved 9th place, which was disappointing for him.
Well recovered from this disappointment, he went to the 2009 World Championships in Herning / Denmark . He showed what he is made of and won over Adrian Jaoude, Brazil , Yusup Abdusalamow , Jose Alberto Diaz, Venezuela , Ibragim Aldatow , Ukraine and Jake Herbert from the United States, whom he won with 2-0 rounds and 2-0 techn . Points defeated, new world champion .
At the 2010 World Cup in Moscow , Soxiyev was unable to defend his title. He won there over Dordschwaantschigiin Gombodordsch , Mongolia , Reineris Salas Perez , Cuba and others. Ibragim Aldatow , but lost in the final battle against Mikhail Ganew from Bulgaria and took 2nd place.
