Zaurbek Soxiyev

Zaurbek Soxiyev (born June 1, 1986 in North Ossetia ) is an Uzbek wrestler . He became the 2009 middleweight freestyle world champion.

Career

Zaurbek Soxiyev started wrestling as a teenager in 1993. In his youth he started in North Ossetia and Russia . He has been competing for Dinamo Tashkent and therefore for Uzbekistan since he was 18 . He wrestles exclusively in free style. His trainers are or were Aslanbek Bekojew u. Kazbek Didikayev. The 1.76 meter tall athlete wrestles in the middleweight division and is a law student.

He made his debut on the international wrestling mat in 2005 at the Junior World Championships in Vilnius , where he was eliminated in the middleweight division after a defeat in his first fight against Nikolos Gagnidze from Georgia and only finished 17th. Just one year later, in 2006, he had established himself among the seniors and took an excellent 2nd place at the Asian Championships in Almaty behind Tschagnaadordschiin Gandsorig from Mongolia, ahead of such an expert as Gennadi Lalijew , an Ossetian who started for Kazakhstan and a silver medalist.
