Career
Yusup Abdussalomov started wrestling as a teenager in 1992. He is a member of the Gadji Makhachkala sports club . At a height of 1.73 meters he started in the lightweight (class up to 69 kg body weight (KG)), but grew over the years over the welterweight (up to 74 kg body weight) into the middle weight (up to 84 kg body weight). He only wrestles in free style and is or was trained by Magomed Dibirow and Marcin Jurecki. His job is "athlete" who also works as a trainer.

Yusup Abdussalomov has been working for Tajikistan since 2002 . In the same year he went to the Asian Games in Busan in the welterweight division and took second place there behind the South Korean Cho Byung-kwan. At the Asian Championships in New Delhi in 2003 he was even more successful, because he won first place in the welterweight division there, ahead of Ramazan Zadeh from Iran and the Indian Sujeet Maan.

Here he won welterweight over the South Korean Cho Yong-pil, but was defeated in his next fight against Soslan Tigiyev from Uzbekistan and only reached 13th place. He then decided to start a weight class higher, middleweight, in order to avoid the constant exhausting workout. As early as 2007, he paused in 2006, the success of this measure became apparent, because he became vice world champion with four wins at the world championship in Baku in the middleweight division . In the final battle of this championship he was defeated by the Russian Georgi Ketojew .
The 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing became a highlight of his career . He won there in the middleweight division over Sandeep Kumar from India , Taras Danko from Ukraine and Serhat Balci from Turkey and thus faced the Georgian Rewas Mindorashvili in the final battle . He delivered a tough fight and was only defeated after 3 rounds with 1: 2 lost rounds (3: 9 technical points). With that he was sure of the silver medal .
In the following years he won no medals at international championships until 2011. In 2012 he won a bronze medal at the Asian Middleweight Championships in Gumi / South Korea behind Ehsan Naser Lashgari , Iran and Lee Jae-sung, South Korea. In May 2012, he then managed to qualify for the Olympic Games in London at the tournament in Helsinki . In London he lost his first fight against Gadschimurad Nurmagomedow from Armenia very narrowly (1: 2 rounds, 4: 4 points).
