Gökhan Yavaşer
Gökhan Yavaşer (* 1978 in Sivas ) is a Turkish wrestler . In 2004 he became European middleweight freestyle champion.
Career
Gökhan Yavaşer started wrestling in 1991 at the age of 13. He also became a member of the Gebze Belediyesi SC İzmit sports club . He later moved to Şeker Fb Ankara . His trainer is Turan Ceylan. He wrestles exclusively in free style, is a student, but mainly makes a living from wrestling.
Gökhan Yavaşer was already very successful as a junior. In 1994 he took part in a junior world championship for the first time and won a bronze medal in the weight class up to 65 kg body weight (KG) in the Cadets (= age group up to 16 years of age) in Frankfort / USA . In 1996 he was at the Junior European Championships in Sofia with the Juniors (= age group up to 18 years of age) in the weight class up to 68 kg, behind the Hungarian Tamas Kiss, Vice-European Champion. In 1997 he finally celebrated the greatest success of the junior age in Istanbul when he was junior European champion in the weight class up to 70 kg before Arsen Gitinow from Russia .
In the seniors, Gökhan Yavaşer made his debut at the 2001 World Cup in Sofia . He finished 9th in the welterweight division after losing in his third fight against Mehdi Hajizadeh Jouibari from Iran . In 2003 he was at the Middleweight World Championship in New York . Although he won there against the strong Alik Musajew from Ukraine , but lost again in his third fight to the Georgian Rewas Mindorashvili and reached 7th place.
At the 2004 European Championships in Ankara , Gökhan Yavaşer celebrated his greatest success with the support of the home crowd. He became European middleweight champion with four wins and defeated it in the final battle Rewas Mindorashvili just 3-2 techn. Points. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens he lost his first fight against Taras Danko from Ukraine, clearly on points (0: 6 technical points). Despite a victory in his next fight, he was eliminated and, according to the then strange regulations, only reached 15th place.
In the following years his appearances at the international championships became less frequent. He also found his conqueror in national championships in Serhat Balcı . But he reached the final at the 2006 European Middleweight Championships in Moscow with three wins, but in which he was defeated by the Russian star athlete Adam Saitijew on points.
At the Turkish championship in 2006, which took place at the end of the year, a scandal broke out in the fight against Hasan Ergin when both wrestlers left sporting fairness shortly before the end of the fight and hit each other. In 2007 and 2008, Gökhan Yavaşer was therefore no longer used in any international championships.
In 2009 he made a comeback at the European Championships in Vilnius and won the bronze medal there in the middleweight division. In his first fight he defeated the German Peter Weisenberger with 2-1 round wins. The way to the title was blocked by ex-world champion Ibragim Aldatow from Ukraine, who beat Gökhan Yavaşer on points.
In 2010 he started at the World Cup in Moscow , but lost there in the middleweight division in his first fight against Naurus Srapilewitsch Temresow from Azerbaijan , with which he was eliminated and only came in 24th place.
