Adem Bereket
Adem Bereket (born July 19, 1973 ) is a former Russian or Turkish wrestler . He won a bronze free style welterweight medal at the 2000 Olympics .
Career
Adem Bereket was born Adam Barachojew in Ingushetia , Russia. There he also started wrestling in 1986. His coaches were Alichan Charsijew and Alandin Barachojew. As an adult, the 1.75 meter tall athlete always started in welterweight (back then up to 74 or 76 kg body weight). Until the middle of 1999 he started for Russia. Adem Bereket studied sports. In Turkey he started for the Gebze Güreş İhtisas Kulübü sports club. After his international career, he started for the German Bundesliga club SV Germania Weingarten in the 2005/06 season . From 2006 he has been a coach for the Turkish national team for free style.
In 1996 he finished second behind Nuri Zengin from Turkey at the World University Championships in Tehran . In the middle of 1999 he started, still for Russia, at the "Yaşar Doğu" memorial in Ankara and won this tournament ahead of Aydın Halimoğlu from Turkey. In autumn 1999 he went to the World Cup in Ankara for Turkey. After four wins he lost there in the semifinals against Alexander Leipold from Germany , but defeated Joe E. Williams from the United States in the battle for 3rd place .
In 2000 he took part in the European Championships in Budapest . In welterweight he fought his way up to the final, in which he lost to Buwaissar Saitijew from Russia. But he became vice European champion. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he won over Gurami Michelidze from Georgia , Árpád Ritter from Hungary and Ruslan Kinchagov from Uzbekistan . In the semifinals he was defeated by Brandon Slay from the United States and also in the battle for the bronze medal he lost to Moon Eui-jae from South Korea . He came in 4th place. But he was subsequently awarded the bronze medal because the original Olympic champion Alexander Leipold had to be disqualified for doping.
In the next few years he was only used at the 2003 European welterweight championships in Riga . He lost there against Volodymyr Syrotin from Ukraine and against Krystian Brzozowski from Poland , with which he was eliminated and only finished 15th.
