Saygid Katinovasov

Saygid Katinovasov ( Russian Сайгид Абдусаламович Катиновасов , Saigid Abdussalamowitsch Katinovasov; * April 22, 1969 ) is a former Soviet wrestler of Dagestan descent, who also competed for Russia and Uzbekistan . He was runner- up in free style middleweight world champion in 1993 .

Career

Saygid Katinovasov began wrestling as a teenager together with his twin brother Rasul Katinovasov and was delegated to the wrestling center in Makhachkala during the Soviet times after the first major successes . There Mamur Rusiev became his trainer. The stocky, strong wrestler was only active in free style and was extremely successful as a junior. Until 1992 he started for the Soviet Union and for the Commonwealth of Independent States . From 1993 for Russia and from 1996, when the competition in Russia became too great for him, for Uzbekistan . He became a member of the sports club "Trade Union" Tashkent .

In 1986 he was Junior World Champion in Schifferstadt (Juniors = age group up to the age of 18) in the lightweight category, ahead of the Iranian Rahmatab Hojatullah and the South Korean Kim Deak-sod. In 1988 he was in Wałbrzych / Poland Junior European Champion (Espoirs = age group up to the age of 20) in welterweight ahead of Marek Grodzki, Poland and Valentin Schelew, Bulgaria .

After a few appearances in World Cups, for example in the 1991 World Cup in Toledo in Toledo in the middleweight division behind the American Royce Alger , he was first used by Russia in 1993 at a World Cup. He took an excellent 2nd place in the middleweight division in Toronto behind the Turk Sebahattin Öztürk , but ahead of Ruslan Kinchagov from Uzbekistan and Kevin Jackson from the United States.
