Gert Frischmuth
Gert Frischmuth (born July 18, 1932 in Jena ; † May 4, 2012 in Erfurt ) was a German choir director and music teacher.
Life
Gert Frischmuth studied music education at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . After 12 years of teaching at the Humboldt Oberschule in Erfurt , he was appointed to the Liszt University of Music in Weimar after additional studies in choral conducting for the subject of choral singing / choral conducting . There he successfully led, among other things, the Chamber Choir of the Musikhochschule, which has received several awards. In 1979 he was appointed professor. After 12 years as a guest conductor and two-year interim leadership, he was appointed choir director of the Radio Choir Leipzig, later in 1988 MDR Radio Choir Leipzig appointed. He directed this until 1998. Under his direction he developed into one of the top choirs in Europe. He also directed the Erfurt men's choir for over 40 years and the Thuringia State Youth Choir in 1998 and 1999 .
