Volkher Häusler

Volkher Häusler (born August 14, 1958 in Krumbach ) is a German conductor and church musician . He is the artistic director of the Mendelssohn ChamberChor Berlin .

Life

Munich

Volkher Häusler passed his Abitur in 1979 at the Theresien-Gymnasium in Munich . He then began studying music at the Munich University of Music , where he was taught by Hedwig Bilgram and choral conducting by Fritz Schieri . During a summer course he was taught by the musicologist Wilhelm Ehmann . In 1980 he took part in a master class on baroque performance practice, which was led by the tenor Ernst Haefliger and the conductor and university professor Diethard Hellmann . In 1981 he began additional studies in the concert organ with Hedwig Bilgram. In 1983 he completed his studies in Munich with the A-exam .

Berlin

After moving to Berlin , Volkher Häusler worked as an organist and in 1983 he continued his studies at the Berlin University of the Arts . In 1989 he also took over the leadership of a seminar for voice training at the Academy for Protestant Church Music in Bayreuth .

In 1992 he took part in a master class at the International Bach Academy in Stuttgart under the direction of Helmuth Rilling .

Weimar

From 1994 to 1999 he majored in orchestral conducting at the Liszt School of Music Weimar , where he was particularly influenced by Colin Metters and Gunter Kahlert and graduated with the Kapellmeister diploma. During his studies he was taught choir conducting by Gert Frischmuth and harpsichord playing by Bernhard Klapprott and also took part in master classes with George Alexander Albrecht and Eric Ericson .

Artistic activity

In the last two years of study in Berlin, Volkher Häusler worked as a répétiteur at the Erfurt Theater . Since 2001 he has also worked as a solo coach with conducting duties as assistant to the general music director at the Rostock Theater . Since 1998 he has been a permanent guest conductor at the Schönebecker Operetta Summer. In 2004 he was a guest lecturer at the Cologne University of Music .

In 1986 Volkher Häusler founded the Kreuzberger Kantorei, a professional vocal ensemble , with the participation of which he directed several radio productions in 1989. With the ensemble renamed from Kreuzberger Kantorei to MendelssohnKammerChor Berlin in 2005, he also directed several world premieres by Volker Wangenheim , with whom he completed further conducting studies from 2004 to 2006.

Volkher Häusler worked with orchestras such as the Jena Philharmonic , the Central German Chamber Philharmonic and the North German Philharmonic , as well as with artists such as Andreas Baesler , Helge Leiberg , Josef Protschka and Arila Siegert . He is committed to the work of the church musician and composer Arnold Mendelssohn .

Volkher Häusler also works as a pianist , accompanist and composer and teaches conducting, accompaniment, singing and choral vocal training .
