Christian Frank (born September 12, 1968 in Gera ) is a German conductor , pianist and composer . Since 1994 he has led the concert choir of the Goethe Gymnasium / Rutheneum Gera .

biography

Christian Frank was born in Gera in September 1968 and received piano lessons at the then district music school in Gera at the age of five. From the age of ten he became a special student at the "Franz Liszt" Weimar School of Music . After his Abitur in the special language class for Russian and English at today's “Goethe-Gymnasium Gera / Rutheneum since 1608”, he studied orchestral and choral conducting at the “Franz Liszt” Weimar University of Music from 1987 to 1993 Piano on. In 1993 he completed his studies in the subject t concert exam in artistic song composition and chamber music .

Among other things, he performed as a pianist in recordings with the SWR and as a song accompanist at the ARD competition. He refined his work in master classes with John Eliot Gardiner , Heinz Rögner and Helmuth Rilling . Christian Frank has directed various radio, television and sound carrier productions as a guest conductor for several film scores with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg . He is responsible for the creation of various drama music for the German National Theater Weimar and film music for ZDF , ProSieben , Sat.1 and RTL .

The cooperation with the Concert Association of the Vienna State Opera Choir and the commitment to the stages of the city of Gera in 1993/1994 should also be emphasized . In 1994 he was appointed to the "Franz Liszt" Weimar University of Music as an assistant in the musical theater and conducting departments.

As a choir conductor, he has made a name for himself at home and abroad as the artistic director of the choirs of the Goethe-Gymnasium Gera since 1994. This includes the gold medal in 1999 at the International Choir Competition Fort Lauderdale / USA , 1st Prize in 2003 at the International Choir Competition in Grado and further gold diplomas in 2004 and 2008 in Riva del Garda , 2005 in Budapest and 2015 in New York City .

From 1997 to 1999 he was also the artistic director of the choirs at the Belvedere music school in Weimar. From 2004 to 2012 Christian Frank again directed the State Youth Choir Thuringia .

His achievements as a choir director were awarded, among other things, conducting prizes at the International Choir Competition in Budapest in 1995 and 2005.

Successful performances of his own compositions took Christian Frank to Weimar , Coburg and Berlin together with the concert choir of the Goethegymnasium / Rutheneum Gera .
