meaning

Heinz Rögner has significantly shaped the style and high sound culture of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. He knew how to secure a leading place for this ensemble in national and international musical life. No conductor before and after him has been head of the orchestra for such a long time. His great experience as a pianist and conductor was highly valued, and the wide range of his repertoire as an opera and concert conductor enabled him to master almost all musical genres with ease. His conducting style was correct, precise and easy to understand for the musicians and singers. Rögner's preference was for late Romantic composers , but above all Bruckner , Mahler and Reger . As a university professor, he passed on his knowledge and skills to many students. Between 1980 and 1995 he was a frequent and welcome guest of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra , of which he became honorary conductor. Heinz Rögner left behind a large number of important records and radio recordings of opera and concert literature.
