Hubert Hoche

Hubert Hoche (* 1966 ) is a German freelance conductor and composer .

Life

Hubert Hoche received his first lessons on the accordion at the age of six and on the guitar at the age of twelve . At the age of thirteen he began to work as an autodidact . From 1980 to 1987 he was a guitarist in a rock band . After finishing school, Hoche completed vocational training as a carpenter , which he completed in 1987. Hoche then attended the vocational school for music in Bad Königshofen . After graduating, he continued to have lessons in composition with Stephan Adam and conducting with Ernst Oestreicher at the vocational school for music in Bad Königshofen.

In 1991 Hoche began studying conducting (choir with Gert Frischmuth ; orchestra with Lothar Seifarth ) at the "Franz Liszt" Music Academy, Weimar . This was followed in 1993 by studying composition with Reinhard Wolschina and Wolfgang von Schweinitz . Then in 1998 the four-semester postgraduate course in composition with Reinhard Wolschina. He also took conducting courses with Bernard Haitink in 2008 and Jan Cober in 2009 .

In 1990, Hoche took part in the workshop “Young People Composed” at Weikersheim Castle with the composition “Die Armut” for baritone and piano with a text by Pablo Neruda . In 1993 he took part in the composition workshop with Michel Philippot (Paris) and in 1997 in the “University Forum for Young Composers” with the composition “O quae mutatio rerum !?”. He wrote commissioned compositions for the Weimar Spring Days for Contemporary Music , the Thuringian Composers' Association e. V. and the German Zither Association .

He lives with his family in Helmstadt near Würzburg.

Awards

This was followed by scholarships from the Thuringian Ministry of Science, Research and Culture for the composition “MYSTIKA” - multimedia project for flute, oboe, viola, cello, piano and keyboard. He was repeatedly invited to the orchestral workshop for young composers. He received other prizes for his composition “Nebelbilder” in 2005 at a composition competition organized by the Federation of German Brass Music Associations and the Baden-Württemberg Brass Music Association, first prize in the composition category for the highest level. Hoch received another 1st prize for the composition "From Heaven High" for wind orchestra at the composition competition of the Federal Association of German Music Associations and the GEMA Foundation on the occasion of the German Music Festival 2013 in Chemnitz in category 3.

Hubert Hoch works with orchestras, ensembles and soloists such as the Jena Philharmonic , the Thuringia Philharmonic Gotha-Suhl , the Philharmonic Orchestra Altenburg-Gera, the Weimar State Orchestra , the Bavarian Chamber Orchestra Bad Brückenau , the Bavarian Police Orchestra , the North Bavarian Youth Brass Orchestra, the Symphonic Wind Orchestra Vorspessart , the Leipziger Rundfunkchor, Duo Carin Levine and Marta Klimasara, L'art pour l'art, ensemble für Neue Musik-Berlin, oh-ton Ensemble, shawnigan-trio, Ensemble via nova, ensemble con tempo, Trio Belvedere-Weimar, Susanne Köszeghy, Ernst Oestreicher and Johann Mösenbichler together.

Hoche has been working as a conductor with choirs and symphonic wind orchestras since 1989. In 1997 the HH-Musikverlag was founded. In 1998 he was a founding member of the Musik in Thüringen e. V. and until the move to Helmstadt in 2000 also member of the board. In 2000 he initiated the founding of the flammabis - contemporary music e. V. in Würzburg and has been 1st Chairman since then. The tasks include the organization of annual discussion concerts and the artistic direction of a festival for new music in Würzburg. Also since 2000 he has been deputy chairman of the Thuringian Composers' Association. In 2005 he was elected deputy chairman of the Tonkünstlerverband Würzburg.

Tri-medial project Mystika

Mystika is a piece in seven pictures with music by Hubert Hoche, in which he has incorporated autobiographical elements. The composition for a large symphonic wind orchestra is visually flanked by videos and, thirdly, is staged by dancing.
