Lucifugum is a black metal band from Ukraine .

history

The band was founded in 1995 in Zhitomir by the poet Khlyst (originally Igor Naumtschuk), Bal-a-Myth ( guitar and bass ) and Faunus ( vocals ). Faunus left the band in 2001. Bal-a-Myth died on October 5, 2002 due to a drug overdose . According to Khlyst, Faunus then spread the rumor that the band no longer existed. The albums Back to Chopped Down Roots and Sociopath: Philosophy Cynicism were recorded in 2003 with various session musicians who, however, did not join the band. Khlyst does not see any line-up changes, just an exchange of session musicians.

In 2004 Khlyst moved to Mykolaiv to develop the band with the resident black metal activist Stabaath (actually Elena Naumtschuk). Vector33 was the first album with Stabaath, where she was responsible for vocals, guitar, bass and keyboard. Khlyst and Stabaath are married and the owners of the black metal label Propaganda.

Lucifugum distances itself from the Ukrainian NSBM scene, especially from the band Nokturnal Mortum, which they were friends with . The gray mail order, however, "immediately removed them from our program after an intensive check [...]."

In Eastern Europe, the band used to only release cassettes .

style

The band plays black metal . The singing is guttural , the songs contain a few tempo changes. The sound is very "raw".

The texts are Ukrainian because they are "practically untranslatable".
