Chassan Magometowitsch Chalmursajew ( Russian Хасан Магометович Халмурзаев ; born October 9, 1993 in Nazran ) is a Russian judoka . In 2016 he was European and Olympic champion in the light middleweight division (up to 81 kg).

Khassan Chalmursajew won both the U17 European Championships and the U17 World Championships in the weight class up to 73 kg in 2009. In 2010 he reached the final at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore , where he lost to South Korean Lee Jae-hyung. In 2011 he won the Junior European Championships. In 2013 he won the silver medal at the U23 European Championships. In 2014 he won his first Russian championship title in the adult class, at the U23 European Championships in 2014 he received a bronze medal. In 2015, Khassan Chalmursayev won his weight class at the 2015 Summer Universiade .

At the European Judo Championships in 2016 he won the final against the Georgian Awtandil Tschrikishvili , in the team competition the Georgians won ahead of the Russians. In the final of the 2016 Olympic tournament in Rio de Janeiro , he won after 2:42 minutes against US judoka Travis Stevens . At the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, Khassan Chalmursajew lost to the German Alexander Wieczerzak in the semi-finals , but then secured the bronze medal.

Chassan's twin brother Chussein Chalmursajew is also a successful judoka. He fights in the middleweight division, one weight class higher than Chassan.
