Djamel Bouras

Djamel Bouras (born August 21, 1971 in Givors ) is a former French judoka .

Bouras belonged to the international top in the light middleweight division in the mid 1990s. In 1996 he became Olympic champion at the Summer Olympics in Atlanta and also European champion in the same year.

He had previously won the bronze medal at the 1995 World Championships in Chiba . Two years later he won the silver medal at the 1997 World Championships in Paris.

After nandrolone metabolites were found in a doping control , Bouras was banned for 15 months until March 19, 1999.
