Travis Stevens

Travis Stevens (born February 28, 1986 in Bellevue , Washington ) is a former American judoka . In 2016 he won an Olympic silver medal.

The 1.80 m tall Travis Stevens fought in the light middleweight division, the weight class up to 81 kilograms. His international breakthrough came at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2007 , when he defeated the Brazilian Flávio Canto in the semi-finals and the Colombian Mario Valles in the final. In May 2008 he was defeated in the final of the Pan American Championships to the Brazilian Guilherme Luna . At the Olympic Games in Beijing he won two fights by Ippon and lost twice by small scores, so that he was led in the end in ninth place.

In 2009 Stevens won the Pan American Championships, in 2010 he finished third and in 2011 he was second behind the Brazilian Leandro Guilheiro . At the 2012 Olympic Games in London he defeated Guilheiro in the quarter-finals, but lost to the German Ole Bischof in the semifinals. In the battle for the bronze medal, Stevens lost to the Canadian Antoine Valois-Fortier . From 2013 to 2015, Stevens won bronze three times at the Pan American Championships. At the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, he defeated Cuban Iván Felipe Silva in the final . In 2016 he lost in the final of the Pan American Championships against Valois-Fortier. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , Stevens reached the final with four wins, where he was defeated by the Russian Khassan Chalmursajew .
