Leandro Marques Guilheiro (born August 7, 1983 in Suzano ) is a Brazilian judoka . He was Olympic Knight in 2004 and 2008.

Athletic career

The 1.76 m tall Guilheiro fought until 2009 in the lightweight, the weight class up to 73 kilograms. In 2002 he was junior world champion. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he won his first three fights and then lost to French Daniel Fernandes in the quarter-finals . With three wins in the Hope Round, Guilheiro secured a bronze medal. In 2005 he finished seventh at the world championships . Two years later, Guilheiro reached the final of the 2007 Pan American Games , but was then defeated by US judoka Ryan Reser . At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Guilheiro was defeated by South Korean Wang Ki-chun in the quarter-finals, but secured a bronze medal with three wins in the round of hope, like four years earlier. In 2009 he won the Pan American Championships. in July 2009 he won a world cup tournament for the first time in Belo Horizonte.

From the end of 2009, Guilheiro started in the light middleweight division, the weight class up to 81 kilograms. In 2010 he won the Grand Slam tournament in Paris and the World Cup in São Paulo. At the World Championships in Tokyo he reached the final with six wins and received the silver medal after his defeat against the South Korean Kim Jae-bum . In April 2011 he won the Pan American Championships. In July 2011 he won the World Military Games. At the Judo World Championships 2011 he lost in the semifinals against Srđan Mrvaljević from Montenegro, with a victory over Elkhan Rajabli from Azerbaijan Guilheiro won the bronze medal. Two months after the World Championships, he won the title at the 2011 Pan American Games in October 2011 . In 2012 he won the Pan American Championships. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, he reached seventh place.

Guilheiro, who competed for Rogério Sampaio's judo school , remained active after his third Olympic Games. In 2015 he won the title at the World Military Games. In March 2018, he finished third at the World Cup in Santiago.
