Alexander Jurjewitsch Enbert ( Russian Александр Юрьевич Энберт ; born April 17, 1989 in Leningrad ) is a Russian figure skater who starts in pair skating . He and his partner Natalja Sabijako finished third in the 2019 World Cup and second in the 2018 Olympic team competition .
biography
Enbert started figure skating at the age of seven. At the age of 16 he appeared for the first time in an international competition with his partner Viktoria Kazantseva , they finished the Junior World Championships in 12th place. In the following years he also took part in Grand Prix with various partners and was able to achieve fourth and fifth places there. Together with Ksenia Ozerova , he won the silver medal at the Winter Universiade in 2009 and took part in his first World Cup. In addition, he and Katarina Gerboldt only just missed the podium at the European Championships two years later .
At the beginning of the 2015/16 season it was officially announced that he would run with Natalja Sabijako from now on , after she had received the approval of the Estonian Federation to change nations. At first they started mainly in the ISU Challenger series and were able to achieve a podium place there in their first season. In the following season they achieved their first podium at a Grand Prix when they were able to classify themselves in second place behind Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot at the Rostelcom Cup .
After winning their first medals at major events at the 2018 Olympic Games silver in the team event and at the European Championship with third place, they also won the bronze medal at the 2019 World Cup .
At the beginning of the 2019/20 season, the couple announced a break from competition due to an injury to Enbert.
