Tamara Nikolajewna Moskwina , née Bratus ( Russian Тамара Николаевна Москвина (Братусь) ; born June 26, 1941 in Leningrad ) is a former Russian figure skater who started in individual skating and pair skating for the Soviet Union and is an active figure skating trainer.
Career
Moskwina was born on June 26, 1941 as the daughter of the engineer Nikolai Antonowitsch Bratus (1914-1961) and his wife Serafima Stepanovna Bratus (1916-1988) in Leningrad. During the Leningrad blockade , she and her family were evacuated to live with their mother's relatives in a small village in the Urals . Due to malnutrition during the war years, Moskvina was only 1.48 meters tall. The family returned to Leningrad in 1948. Moskvina began ice skating at the age of ten after her father bought her and her two sisters ice skates. Her friend Irina encouraged her to go to Ivan Bogojawlenski for figure skating training with her , which she did. From 1957, and thus throughout her entire international career, she was trained by Igor Moskvin , whom she married in 1964. The couple have two daughters, Olga and Anna. In 1958, Moskwina graduated from music school in the piano subject. She graduated from the University of Physical Culture and Sport and completed her studies in educational sciences in 1971.
For the Soviet Union, Tamara Moskwina started a total of seventeen years in both individual and pair skating. From 1962 to 1966 she was the Soviet figure skating champion for women. She took part in European championships four times in a single run . Her best result was 14th place at the European Championships in 1965 . After that, on the advice of Moskvin, she switched to pair skating. Her first figure skating partner was Alexander Gavrilow , with him she won the Soviet championships in 1965, but then Gavrilow ended his career and Moskwina had to look for a new figure skating partner. It became Alexei Mishin and would remain so until the end of her career in 1969. They finished third in their first joint national championships in 1966. They repeated this result a year later. In 1967 they also played their first major international tournaments. They finished sixth at both the World Championship and the European Championship . In 1968 Moskwina and Mishin became Soviet runners-up and in Västerås also runners-up European champions behind Lyudmila Belousova and Oleg Protopopov . In the World Cup they missed a medal in fourth place and at the Olympic Games in Grenoble they finished fifth. In 1969 the couple was able to defeat the world champions of the last four years, Belousova and Protopopov, as well as the world champions of the next four years, Irina Rodnina and Alexei Ulanow , at the Soviet championship and thus become champions. However, Moskvina and Mishin could not repeat this at the European Championships and had to be satisfied with the bronze medal as the third best Soviet couple. At the World Cup they could beat Belousova and Protopopow, but were clearly defeated Rodnina and Ulanow and thus won the silver medal. After that, however, Moskwina decided to finish her studies and have a child instead of collecting more medals, and so the couple ended their competitive career. From then on, both concentrated on their coaching careers.
Moskwina began working as a trainer with her husband, most of the time in St. Petersburg, but also in Hackensack , New Jersey during the 1990s .
She devised many elements of couple walking, especially in the opposing choreography, in which man and woman show different movements that nevertheless form a unit. In 1984 she was co-author of the official ISU handbook on evaluating pair skating. Moskwina mostly focuses on two couples in their coaching work and takes care of everything, including the choreography and costumes.
Moskwina trained among others the Olympic champions Jelena Walowa and Oleg Wassiljew , Artur Dmitrijew with his two partners Natalja Mischkutjonok and Oxana Kasakowa and Jelena Bereschnaja and Anton Sicharulidze . She is currently training Juko Kawaguti and Alexander Smirnow .
