The United Arab Republic took part in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome in part with a delegation of 74 male athletes in 34 competitions in twelve sports.

The VAR athletes won a silver and a bronze medal. Wrestler Osman El-Sayed won the silver medal in the Greco-Roman style flyweight, while the boxer Abdelmoneim El-Guindi , also a flyweight, won bronze.
