Abdelmoneim El-Guindi

Abdelmoneim El-Guindi (born June 12, 1936 in Alexandria , † March 17, 2011 ) was an Egyptian boxer . He won a bronze flyweight medal at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome .

Career

Abdelmoneim El-Guindi learned boxing after joining the Egyptian army. In 1959 he made his first appearance on the international boxing scene when he won the flyweight title at the Mediterranean Games in Beirut .

In 1960 he became CISM military flyweight world champion in Wiesbaden . In the same year he started at the Olympic Games in Rome and landed there in flyweight victories over Robert Bosch from Luxembourg , Paolo Curcetti, Italy and Humberto Barrero from the United States of America. In the semifinals he was defeated by Gyula Török from Hungary with 1: 4 judge votes on points and won a bronze medal .

In 1961 he won the flyweight title again at the CISM military world championships in Fort Dix / USA with a victory over the Tunisian Tarhouni. In 1962 he was bantamweight title holder at the 1st championship of Africa with a victory over the Sudanese Hag.
