Kurt vid Stein
Kurt vid Stein (born November 17, 1935 in Copenhagen ) is a former Danish cyclist and national cycling champion .
Athletic career
In 1952 he started cycling. Vid Stein had his greatest successes as a train driver, especially as a pursuer. Here he also won his first individual medal at the Danish Championships in 1954 when he was third in the singles pursuit ; a year later he was runner-up. In this discipline he won the national title in 1959 (before road driver Niels Baunsøe ) and 1960. In 1961 and 1962 he won bronze respectively. In the team pursuit , he was able to win the title three times (1962 to 1964, including with Mogens Frey as a teammate). He started for the ABC Copenhagen club. Internationally, he was vice-world champion at the UCI rail world championships in 1962 and successful in 1963 when he won the bronze medal. In 1961 he won the first Dernyrennen championship held in Denmark . In 1960 and 1964 he was a participant in the Summer Olympics in Rome and Tokyo, respectively . In both games he started in the team pursuit, in which Denmark was classified as 5th. In 1964 he ended his career.
Professional
Professionally, he worked as a machine worker in a metal factory in Copenhagen.
