Niels Peter Markussen (born September 6, 1934 in Helsingør ; † July 11, 2008 ) was a Danish sailor .

successes

Niels Markussen, who sailed for Kongelig Dansk Yachtklub , took part twice in the Olympic Games in the kite boat class . In 1960 he was in Rome alongside Paul Lindemark Jørgensen on the crew of the Danish boat Chok under skipper Aage Birch . With 4715 points, the Chok finished the regatta in sixth place. At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , Markussen, Lindemark Jørgensen and Birch competed together again and this time secured the silver medal. While the Americans under skipper George Friedrichs were clearly Olympic champions with five wins and a second place , the Danes placed second with 26.4 points ahead of the German boat around Paul Borowski with 32.7 points in the regatta taking place in Acapulco Rank.
