His greatest successes include winning the All England 1999 , reaching the finals at the 2001 World Championships in Seville , four bronze medals at world championships and winning 31 major international tournaments in men's singles; including four times the Korea Open , three times the Danish / Denmark Open , twice the Malaysia Open , twice the Japan Open and ten times the Copenhagen Masters . In 1998 he was named World Badminton Player of the Year. He also won the European championship five times . He won the Danish championship ten times.
However, Gade never managed to become world champion or Olympic champion . At the 1999 World Championships in Copenhagen , he failed in the semifinals against Permadi Fung with 11:15, 15: 1, 14:15. In 2001 in Seville he made it to the finals, but lost to the Indonesian Hendrawan with 6:15, 16:17.
