Joachim Persson (born May 23, 1983 in Slagelse , Denmark ) is a Danish badminton player who started for Germany until he was a junior. His younger brother is Nikolaj Persson , who plays for Germany .

Career

Joachim Persson was junior champion in Germany in 2001 and 2002, but then moved to neighboring Denmark. For his new home he won the Finnish International, Swedish International Stockholm, Austrian International and the Irish Open, among others . In 2008 he achieved his greatest successes to date. He made it into the final of the European Championships in Herning and played his way into the finals of the Denmark Open in Odense and the semi-finals of the Japan Open in Tokyo, where he defeated the 2004 Olympic champion and 2005 world champion, Taufik Hidayat from Indonesia . In addition, he earned his first tournament victory in the Grand Prix category with a win at the Bulgarian Open. His highest world ranking that year was 6th.
