Jan Østergaard Jørgensen (born December 31, 1987 in Aalborg , Denmark ) is a Danish badminton player .

Career

Jørgensen's greatest successes so far are winning the Denmark Open 2010 , the Indonesia Open 2014 , the French Open 2013, the 2014 European Championship and the bronze medal at the 2015 World Championships in Jakarta in men's singles. He also reached the finals at the All England 2015 , the China Open 2009 and the Indonesia Open 2015 . At the 2012 Olympic Games in London he won the group stage over Misha Zilberman with 21:13, 21:12 and Zi Liang Derek Wong with 21:17, 21:14, but failed in the next round in the round of 16 against Lee Hyun-il with 17:21, 13:21. At the World Championships in Hyderabad in 2009 and in Guangzhou in 2013 , he reached the quarter-finals.

In 2002 and 2006 Jørgensen won two junior titles in his native Denmark. In the last year he also won at the Czech International , a year later at the Hungarian International . In 2008 he won bronze at the European Championships , two years later he rose to silver. In the year between the two championships, he won the Swedish International Stockholm and the Badminton Open Saarbrücken . In addition, he won the Denmark International in 2011 and the German Open in 2015 .

In 2009 , 2011 and 2012 he won the Copenhagen Masters invitation tournament .
