Career

One of Lee's greatest successes was winning the 2008 Korea Open , beating reigning world champion Lin Dan in the final with 4:21, 23:21, 25:23. After a miserable start, he was able to keep up well in the second set and benefited from several tight line decisions in his favor. In 2005 he won the Indonesia Open by beating Boonsak Ponsana from Thailand in straight sets. At the 2006 World Championships in Madrid , he achieved bronze and his only medal at world championships so far. In the same year he reached the final of All England , which he lost with 7:15, 7:15 against Lin Dan. At the age of 20 and 21 he was in the finals of the Japan Open 2001 and 2002 , of which he won the latter.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 , Lee's defeat in the semifinals against Lee Chong Wei with 18:21, 21:13, 13:21 and the lost bronze match against Chen Jin 16:21, 21:12, 14: 21 fourth place. Also in 2012 in London it was only enough for fourth place. In the semifinals he lost to Lin Dan with 12:21, 10:21 and in the game for bronze against Chen Long with 12:21, 21:15, 15:21. In Athens 2004 he lost to Boonsak Ponsana in the round of 16 with 13:15, 11:15.

After a long absence, Lee has won ten tournaments since June 2014 to qualify for the upcoming 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .
