List of Olympic champions in badminton
Olympic champions in badminton have been named since 1992. All winners, second and third place winners of the badminton competitions at the Summer Olympics are listed below, broken down by men, women and mixed teams.
Competitions
Five badminton tournaments are held at the Summer Olympics :
- Women's singles tournament (since 1992)
- Women's double tournament (since 1992)
- Men's singles tournament (since 1992)
- Men's doubles tournament (since 1992)
- Mixed tournament (since 1996)
In 1972 in Munich, badminton was played as a demonstration sport, without a double tournament for women. Badminton was a demonstration sport in Seoul in 1988. In the table, those placed in these years are in italics.
At the tournaments of the 1992 Summer Olympics, two bronze medals were awarded each time, and at the 1972 demonstration competition, there were also two third-placed winners.

- Country: Name the country for which the athlete started. When changing nationality, the country for which the athlete won the last medal is named.
- By: The year the athlete won the first medal.
- Until: The year in which the athlete won the last medal.
- Gold: states the number of gold medals won.
- Silver: states the number of silver medals won.
- Bronze: states the number of bronze medals won.
- Total: states the number of all medals won.
The demonstration competitions are not taken into account as they were not an official part of the Olympic program.
