Shinji Matsuura

Shinji Matsuura ( Japanese 松浦 進 二 , Matsuura Shinji ; born February 15, 1964 in Shiga Prefecture ) is a former badminton player from Japan .

Career

Shinji Matsuura qualified in men's doubles with Shūji Matsuno for the 1992 Summer Olympics . In the first round both won against the South Africans Nico Meerholz and Anton Kriel with 2-0 sets. In the following round they won against Chan Siu Kwong and Ng Pak Kum from Hong Kong just as clearly in two sets. In the quarterfinals they were defeated by Razif Sidek and Jalani Sidek from Malaysia with 5:15 and 4:15, so that at the end of the day they finished 5th.

Nationally both were successful in doubles in 1983 and 1985 to 1992. Matsuura also won the men's singles every two years from 1986 and 1990.

In 1988 Matsuno and Matsuura finished third in the Olympic Games, where badminton was performed as a demonstration sport.
